I don't think Phillip Ruddock understands the finer points of international diplomacy. Simply saying 'We don't want to talk to you' is effectively throwing the lives of these 9 people away.
Removing any help the Australian government may supply will force the Indoesian courts to simply use the evidence they have, that these 9 people had substantial amounts of heroin strapped to their bodies and seemingly had the intent of taking it out of the country. That firing squad will be cleaning their rifles right about now.
No wonder the Indonesians take great pride in fucking over Australians...
