Parking, Fifth Gear style...

This looks like so much fun.

I would love to have the time and spare cars to practice stuff like this, just for the hell of it.

I hate Dr. Phil...

I hate Dr. Phil. If ever there was a more manufactured talk show host than Dr. Phil, I have yet to see it.

At least Jerry Springer and Maury Povich are pretty up front about the show they produce. We know that half of all Jerry's guests are actors, and the other half high class trailer trash.

Dr Phil's guests, on the other hand, are supposedly real and he offers his solutions on what they should do to fix their lives. It seems to resonate with his target audience. What is Dr Phil's target audience you ask? The same as Oprah's audience: female, probably a fan of 'Grey's Anatomy' and a little heavier than before she had the kids.

I think Dr Phil has found his ratings flagging and needs some controversy to boost the fortunes of his show. The following video is pretty close to proving that correct...

There are a few things wrong with this video:

  • If Dr Phil really wanted to not publicise the Bumfight videos, why did he even invite the guy onto the show? I'm sure a lot more people now know about Bumfight than they did before.
  • The would have to be the lamest attempt at looking like you were taking the moral high ground. It may work with the stupid women who watch your show, but for the majority of society they can see right through it. I'm sure Dr Phil saw the video before the show and if he was so pissed off about, why did it even get broadcast?
  • Even before Dr Phil said "Stop the tape", the tape had already stopped with quite a lame static effect.
  • Congratulations to Ty for mocking Dr Phil quite well. That haircut was great.

I think I might go download some Bumfight videos...

Angry, angry man...

Henry Rollins, probably one of the angriest men on the planet, has always had a lot to say about social issues which has kind of turned him into a cult figure for the disaffected. Whether you believe with the man's views or not, you have to say he does is quite passionate about whatever he chooses to talk.

I have been a casual observer of Henry for a few years now, I was lent a few of his spoken word releases on CD, and he really does know how to use language quite powerfully. Maybe that is part of him being a songwriter.

What I have found for you below is a pretty passionate video of Henry teeing off on the issue of net neutrality, an issue some see as a US government sponsored effort to take a voice away from the people.

He starts the rant like this (transcript here):
Freedom is under attack. Under attack by hysterical and well funded Christian psychotics, intellectually undernourished leaders who lie and manipulate information, overfed Baby Huey coward bitch motherfuckers like Karl Rove and their suck up weakling apologists like Sean Hannity. To question authority is to be somehow unpatriotic, unAmerican and in league with terrorists worldwide?
