I finally got my shit together and purchased a new lens for my camera. I got myself a wide angle lens made by Sigma. I read many reviews and although the lens has a few minor flaws (visible distortion at ultra wide angle), the general consensus is that it is a great bargain.
10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM
I love this lens. It just opens up a new world of taking photos to me. My widest angle lens previously was a 28mm and on the APS-C sensor I have, it is equivalent of ~45mm, it isn't wide enough. This new lens comes out to an equivalent 16-32mm.
